Singing In The Dark
This week at St. Peter’s Church of Oldtown Valley, we were blessed to welcome Brother Ralph Maxwell Sr. as part of our Season of Shared Voices. His message, titled “Singing in the Dark,” reminded us that faith is often revealed most clearly in difficult seasons. Drawing from Ephesians 5:19, Brother Ralph encouraged the congregation with these words: “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” He shared that believers are called to keep praising God not only in joyful moments, but also during the darker times of life. When circumstances feel uncertain, worship becomes a powerful expression of trust in God’s presence and promises. Brother Ralph reminded us that even when the path seems unclear, God is still at work. Choosing to “sing in the dark” is a way of declaring faith that the Lord is guiding us, strengthening us, and bringing light into every situation. The message was a heartfelt encouragement to keep our hearts focused on God, allowing praise and gratitude to fill our lives regardless of the circumstances we face.
