The Valley of Vision
By Bj | February 21, 2024 | Enhance Your Prayer Life
I find great comfort in these prayers as I read, absorb. and digest them. My own prayer vernacular is enhanced and I can communicate with our All-Sufficient, God-Almighty El-Shaddai in ways I never imagined.

Jesus Freaks
By Sue | January 14, 2021 | Inspiring
Jesus Freaks (Stories of those who stood for JESUS, the ultimate Jesus freaks) by dc Talk and The Voice of the Martyrs is an updated and revised release of the classic book originally published in 1999. First, we need to acknowledge the legendary Christian rap group, dc Talk which had a part in putting together this book based off their song "Jesus Freak". Members, Michael, Toby and Keven each had a part in contributing to the book.
In the book, short stories are shared of various individuals as they have often suffered tragedy for standing for their Christian faith. The stories are shared of various Bible characters, as well as individuals from time moving forward up until about 2018. These stories are sometimes hard, but also challenging and inspirational. At the end of the book, there is a listing of hostile and restricted countries in the world today.
Jesus Freaks is eye opening, sometimes difficult to read, but also inspiring. It highlights the ramifications of being a Christian in the world today. I appreciated both the stories of the past and the recent stories. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review, which I was happy to do. I would recommend the valuable and honest book.

Holiness
By Ashley Hodge | January 31,2004 | I highly recommend this book by JC Ryle.
Ryle comes as close to finding that necessary balance of truthfulness, yet compassion of any writer I have read. His main points in this book are that you must be called by the Father, justified by the Son and sanctified by the Holy Spirit to be saved. It is a terrific biblical account of conversion. This is an account that many professing Christians would find shocking today. Ryle says that any true Christian must hate the world, Satan and sin to be a child of God. Without this inward warfare, there is no faith. Ryle has become my favorite author. After reading Holiness, I have ordered all of his other writings. His commentaries on the gospels are superb. I recommend Knots Untied as well. He was a plain speaking man whose heart burned with a holy passion for God.

Knowing God
By Thriftbooks.com User | July 31, 2000 | A Real Eye Opener - In My Top 50 All time Favorite Books
Fortunately for me I read this book about the third year that I was a Christian. The book had such an impact on me that several years later I read it again. Packer shoots a straight shot into the heart of Theology Proper. The attributes, nature, and actions of God are delineated with great care and sound theology. The book is divided into three major parts and each part discusses the God who is, Knowing God, and the God who acts. For a better grasp of theology proper (direct study of God Himself) this book along with a solid translation of the Bible will carry you a long way

The Pilgrim's Progress
Reviewed by Catlover | December 17, 2019 | Surpassed my expectations!
I had watched the animated movie first, and truly enjoyed it and could relate to Christian's struggles, and its hope. But the actual book written by John Bunyan, surpassed my expectations because nothing was left out. All of the trickery, deceptions, subtle and blatant warfare are all there. But it gave me even more hope because you will see that the end (heaven) is all worth it ; it is always worth it to follow God. He always answers our call for help - He is always there for us through everything.

A Humble Servant. This Missionary shows us true humility to be used of God for His will to be accomplished. Refreshing to see a Mission field giant who had no ego...only humility...to be a tool in the hand of God. He did not make a move without prayer and consulting the Creator of the Universe. This man's love for the Chinese people. What a dedicated soul. We can learn a lesson from his words. Truly a lesson study for all of us in how we look at all of God's children as well as how we behave and work in our daily lives. This book humbled me and made me realize that God cannot fully use us for His purposes until we turn all of ourselves over to him. It is not about us...it is about God and the souls He wants in His kingdom. Awesome!

The Christian Manifesto by Alistair Begg | Reviewed by Danni | August 14, 2023
Begg structures the book with eight short and simple chapters. Each addresses one particular concept that Jesus challenged during his ministry on earth. He brings the challenge from two thousand years ago to today's world and reiterates the challenge. Jesus is constant and so is His word. His method for living life is still the same despite the changes in our culture. Several concepts the chapters discuss are Happiness, Values, Love, Golden Rule, Forgiveness, Integrity, and Obedience. These are very basic parts of the Christian walk but often easily misplaced and ignored. Begg reminds of their value and worth and the rewards of following Christ's directives.
Begg has a way of writing that is convicting yet encouraging at the same time. He brings biblical truth to light with grace and gentleness but does not water down the validity.
This is a great read for those looking for deeper reminders of their relationship with Christ.

Morning and Evening by C. H. Spurgeon is a must have for daily devotions | Reviewed by Spencer H.
This is my very favorite devotional of all. I've used it year after year and it always causes me to deeply consider the message it has for the time. The revised and updated edition by Alistair Beggs is best probably for younger people who don't necessarily care for the Old English style of the original.

Heros Of The Faith by Iain H. Murray | Reviewed by Joshua Mills | FEBRUARY 12, 2019
As you read this book, you will find it to be heart-warming devotional. Murray always writes in a Christ-centred manner. His desire is not for you to gain more head knowledge on a historical figure. Rather, he desires to install into the reader a deeper devotion and love to Christ. Heroes is not a mere biography. It is a soul stirring read that will deepen your love for Christ and his church.
