His hand in mine....
Little Elio who was not yet two wanted to be independent while going outside with me. He tried to navigate the three stairs going into the garage that would take him outside. However. it took just one tumble for him to decide he needed help. (a quick learner)
After that incident, Elio would hurry out the door but stop at the first step and raise his hand in the air, indicating that he wanted me to hold his hand to assist him.
Elio loved going to the garden with grandpa and exploring. Once again, he would try to hurry ahead but going as fast as his little legs would carry him, he face planted in the grass. from then on Elio would walk a little slower, but when he felt insecure or unstable he would raise his hand in the air, indicating that he wanted me to hold his hand and walk with him.
in Isaiah 41:13 it states, "for I the Lord your God, hold your right hand: it is I who say to you fear not, I am the one who helps you."  Like Elio, when we are fearful or uncertain we should just hold up our hand to God and seek His assistance. Just knowing that He has a hold of us is very reassuring, and comforting.  Isaiah 49:16 says, Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of My hands; your walls are continually before me."  What a thought ! that God has engraved my name, your name into the palm of His hand.
Spurgeon's comment on this verse is as such: "Your name is there but that's not all; "I have engraved you". Consider the depths of this! I have engraved your person, your image, your circumstances, your sins, your temptations, your weaknesses, your wants and works, right here."   in John chapter 10 Jesus said that "No man can pluck you out of My Fathers hand". What a statement.  That we can have full confidence in this. and Jesus told His disciples to "fear not, I will never leave you nor forsake you"
I don't have to tell you that life is tough. we all have had our share of trouble and grief. We all have been anxious and worried about the future, even the next day as to what will it bring. Trust in God, place your hand in His. He's got you !
